08:23 AM ET 05.30 | Wayne Gretzky won't be forced to split his loyalties in this Cup final, which weaves in his Great Regret as part of the series. And he's going to be there cheering for the Los Angeles Kings to finally get done what he didn't get done in 1993. ... "Probably the two greatest regrets I have in playing hockey were being swept by the New York Islanders in our first Stanley Cup final in Edmonton and losing that Stanley Cup final in 1993 with the L.A. Kings," Gretzky said in a telephone interview with your correspondent Tuesday. Considering the Islanders were a dynasty and that was the Oilers first year in the Stanley Cup final, he suggest that makes 1993 the biggest regret that way. "Losing that Stanley Cup final in 1993 was devastating. I think about it all the time."

Dude, I'm a Rangers' fan....I've seen exactly one Cup in my lifetime, same as you I suppose....?

It's funny how fans of losing teams have such long memories.

Sheesh and here I thought he regretted not keeping his daughter on a tighter leash

Kings in 6, quite possibly 5. They bring something to the table that the Devils have yet to have to deal with in these playoffs. OFFENSE

Cut us long suffering fans some slack, I mean really, what else have we had to think about in those 19 years ??

A pox on Kerry Fraser!

May 30, 2012  09:34 AM ET

The Kings also bring the best goalie in this season's tournament.

I think six. But for the same reason.

Agreed. Maybe even a sweep. NJD will be hard pressed to score 2 goals a game, and the only way I see NJD winning a game is if Brodeur can steal one.

In his prime, Marty would have the ability to carry his team, but that day has past.

So the Cup goes to Hollywood. For the "dozens and dozens" (cue the Rock) of LAK fans, it is your time.

LOL. I agree with your analysis. Hoping for a good series, but I have my doubts that it will be close.

I hope you are right -- I've grabbed some tickets for Saturday night's game. I can check off a bucket list item -- seeing the LA Kings in person in the finals
