Highly anticipated debut nears for Cubs' Rizzo

08:10 AM ET 05.31 | According to Jason McLeod, Anthony Rizzo may finally be nearing a call-up to Chicago, where Cubs fans are eager to see what they have in the young first baseman. The Cubs don't want to rush Rizzo, who has already proven himself in Triple-A but struggled last year with the Padres, where McLeod formerly worked. McLeod drafted Rizzo in Boston and general manager Jed Hoyer brought Rizzo to the Padres in the Adrian Gonzalez trade, before acquiring him for the Cubs in exchange for Andrew Cashner. McLeod said Rizzo is in the "finishing stages" of his stay at Iowa. "It's deja vu, because we went through the exact same thing last year," McLeod said. ... "[It] shouldn't be too long before he's up here."

Isn't the Cubs best player already playing first base?

I totally agree with you Mr. Bishop. The Cubs has more trade bait with the guy on first now or they will have a stronger team by putting him in the outfield.

The Cubs need to be sellers, and they need to be finding a landing spot for guys such as Soriano, Stewart, Dempster and Marmol. At this point, tear it down and start over...and I mean both the team and the ballpark.

I can't believe how many Cubbie fans keep waiting for Soriano to be traded. No GM will take him even if the Cubbies eat most of his contract. Alphonse is closer to going on the DL again than going to another team.

Ja hey der, shut your knob hole, nancy, you're the only one who cares about Soriano. Cubbie fans don't need fairydusters like you speaking for them.
