08:21 AM ET 05.31 | There is a clock ticking on Long Island. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman reiterated his call for a new arena for the Islanders during his state of the sport address before last night's Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals, but did not have much more information other than that on the team. "Charles Wang is continuing, despite tremendous frustration, to look at all options to keep the club in the metropolitan area," Bettman [said Wednesday]. Wang has not spoken publicly since an appearance on MSG Network's pregame show on April 1. ... "There is still time" to come to a deal to keep the team on Long Island, Bettman noted, but declined to elaborate further.

Maybe Wang should build his own sandbox in a place that's fair for LIers?
The taxes (in Nassau anyway) are too high to be building a playground for this guy to keep a team he refuses to upgrade in town. I like the rivalry, but let's do this properly. I grow weary of teams/leagues holding municipalities hostage becauise the wealthy team owners don't want to follow Rule #1 of business. (spend money to make money) Yo want to give them a tax break for staying? Okay, cool. They are inviting commerce and keeping jobs here....but let them buy their own damned barn.

you're making it sound like there was SOMETHING worthwhile to start with....
or do you mean in general, like since 1987 has he said anything worth while?

no, he thinks hockey still belongs in Phoenix, too

I had to look away, I started seeing spots.
I am glad the league supports the breat cancer awareness - pink helmet, pink ribbon patch, pink stick tape are all good.. but those pads, not so much

Seriously, they can't show a picture of JT or Moulson? Even Cappy's mullet. They have this toolbox as the main pic. Awful.

I though time had run out a few years ago.

It's very telling that the last time Wang spoke was April 1st.

Yes, they haven't even started talking to the PA yet and the league revenue was 3.3 billion. So they are making money and trying to figure out how to ruin it.

I think he's doing his best to screw everybody. Truthfully, it's mostly Wang's fault that there's no future plans for an arena. He put all his cards in the stupid Lighthouse Project and it got denied. And rightfully so in my opinion. He was trying to build a "Biff's" like the casino in the alternate universe in Back to the Future II.

Moulson the former Kings prospect and b-i-l of Jonathan Quick would have been appropriate
