08:38 AM ET 06.01 | With four neck surgeries and a year on the shelf behind him, Peyton Manning will be subjected to someone counting his throws as he learns the Denver playbook. Manning has been cleared by the Broncos' medical staff and by his surgeon from his most recent procedure, noted neck and spine specialist Dr. Robert Watkins, to participate fully in the Broncos' offseason workouts and training camp. But that doesn't mean the Broncos aren't monitoring the most notable free-agent signing in team history. Manning and the Broncos' longtime head trainer, Steve "Greek" Antonopulos, have worked out a throwing schedule. ... "We're going to monitor his reps on a daily basis, how many throws he has," Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy said Thursday.

So, like, in the middle of Game 14, is someone going to go out to the huddle and say, "Sorry, Peyton, your number's up. You can't throw any more this season. Handoffs only."

One good hit he will be in a wheel chair for life.He does not need a pitch count he needs to be coaching.

My prediction: Peyton will get sacked on his first drop back for a pass, get his head slammed to the turf and that will be the sad, sad ending of a career for one of the greatest players to ever step on the field.

I hope he knows what he's doing, they were chasing Tebow all over the field last year, and although I know Tebow wasn't better, but probably faster on the getaway.

I have had this same neck surgery - there is no flexibility in the neck - I leaned back on a chair that fell and fractured my neck. The first big hit he has and he's screwed.

I hope that you are wrong, but it would not shock me if it happens exactly as you say

It might not even be a hit. He might try to make a hard throw from an awkward position and pop his neck out himself. Or he might throw everything away to protect himself if he doesn't have a receiver open immediately.
