Tortorella critical of injured star

09:24 AM ET 06.02 | Marian Gaborik, who first revealed his condition during a press conference in Slovakia before the Rangers confirmed it yesterday morning, will undergo surgery next Wednesday in New York to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, an injury he either sustained early in the first round of the playoffs against Ottawa. It was an injury that obviously diminished Gaborik's capacity to compete as the Rangers progressed through the tournament, but one to which coach John Tortorella made not even a passing reference on Monday's breakup day while stating that the team's best players hadn't played well enough in the six-game conference finals defeat to the Devils and then chose to ignore during a radio interview on Wednesday while critiquing/criticizing Gaborik's effort against New Jersey.

Wow! Is this the best T&R can do on the eve of Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals?

So, Tortarella is irked. What else is new?

Does that mean good bye Gaborik?

If the NHL had a "Prick of the Year Award" I think I know the winner.

I'll take the Wings threads any day. Heck, I'll even take CBJs threads over this.

I'll second that motion. All in favor. Aye! You want to make up a trophy and send it to him Canuck?

Is it just me or is this dragging on longer than usual? It won't be long and they'll be having the 7th game on the 4th of July.

He always looks like somebody's pissed in his shoes. He must have His Irknes' seed in him somewhere.

As long as we get some fire works on the ice, I'm all for it. Beats seating on the grass in the dark in some park, being sucked dry by mosquitoes. :-)

I'm thinking we borrow a giant lucite **** from the AVN Awards.

woah...another torts story? I think he's gotta start being a little more judicious in choosing the moments that he shoots off. his act is growing really tired.

If it goes much longer it is going to interfere with preseason practice

Bingo, plus and a Bruin retread story. I am beginning to wonder if the interns are from Vancouver and Detroit, maybe they think the season is over

Fear not. The Rangers will not be nearly as good next year as they appeared to be this one. They may very well be fighting for a berth next year rather than finishing top of the conference.

I think you might be right.
