08:47 AM ET 06.03 | In an exclusive interview with the Press-Gazette this past week, Rodgers talked about how long he wants to play, the secrets to his success, how he keeps himself grounded despite his high profile, and his expectations during upcoming negotiations on a new contract with the Packers. "I want to be a Packer for life and I don't see myself going anywhere else," said Rodgers. He also reflected on what he learned from the experience of replacing Brett Favre as the Packers' starting quarterback, his theory on what went wrong in the Packers' playoff loss to the New York Giants last January, and why he's especially excited about the upcoming season.

What went wrong in the Giants' game? Could be he ran into a defense that was just hitting its full stride.

He was 26-46, 274 yards, one interception and one of the fumbles was his. Add in the giants rolling up the packers defense with Eli ripping them apart, and there you have it.
37 points and it could have been more.

They never finish the quote. " I want to be a ( insert team name here) for life, but only at my price, a princely sum."
followed by: " It is not about the money, it is about respect."

They got a lot of help from the Green Bay Packers receiving corp.
The Packers dropped eight passes in that game. Many of which came on key third downs against poor coverage.

Better put back a bunch of cash so you can retire a Packer when they dump you because a new boy in town or injury.
I do hope he gets his wish and has a long career and retires on his own terms. I wish that for everyone of us.

What QB wouldn't want to be with his original team for life. Maybe not a Dolphin.

Lots of players say this, few do it for one reason or another, Peyton Manning comes to mind.

Oh, it twas more than that. When your QB accounts for half your turnovers and is your leading rusher and your defense gets shredded ( could have been 50 points that day ) you are more than dropped passes away from a win.

The Gazette covered all those topics and this is the storyline that FN pulls from it? I like Rodgers and I think anyone with the opportunity would love to be a Packer for life. (Some people get upset if they don't get their way though.)

Teams live and die by the franchise QB. At least 2/3 of the league are searching for one every year. Some just never seem to find one. Some find one after another. I think the hunt starts two to three years after they find the current one. Quiet the fickle bunch when it comes to our QB's, aren't we.
Oh and someone might want to clue the Saints in.

As much as I hate to say it, you're on the money. The way they played that day, I don't think they could have gotten past the 9ers either.

Favre wanted to be a Packer for life too...

But Favre was all about himself. Rodgers might turn out to be the same way too, but I remember Favre's last few years in Green Bay where he held that team hostage while he decided if he would continue to play.

Some of that blame has to be put on management not doing enough to keep that ego in check though. They helped create that monster.

It is not coincidence when star players fold under pressure. Not used to getting beat ,in a playoff game, everything on the line. Happens a lot. They dropped those passes for a reason:pressure.
Same in the playoffs in MLB. Those .300 hitters end up batting .150 for a series a lot. Easy to play well in October when it is all going your way.
