10:10 AM ET 06.03 | Keep hearing that Marc Crawford and Michel Therrien are co-favorites to be the next head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, which isn't necessarily encouraging. Therrien last wore out his welcome in Pittsburgh while Crawford's last two gigs, in Dallas and Los Angeles, didn't end well.

Are things so messed up in Montreal that no one wants the job?

I think they are BF.

That's Youppi waving his no-trade clause.

well, Hartley went to Calgary because mtl didn't want him...so I'd have to say no.

I really hope its not therrien. crawford would do. I'd like to see roy get a shot.

My choice for the Habs job is Barry Melrose.

Well, Crawford and Therrien are about as attractive as candidates as Rosie O'Donnell and Roseanne Barr are attractive as women.

Man anyone thinks Torts has a big mouth, Crawford out does them all. I remember him screaming at Bowman, who told him He knew his Dad and he should be ashamed. Not a good choice.

That settles it. Youppi for HC.

Who dumped who in that deal. I had heard that Montreal was all set to name him the HC, and he turned them down. Are you saying the Habs didn't want him afterall? That wouldn't just be sour grapes would it?

I have to agree with you. Thierrien did a lot to bring discipline to the Pens after Edzos, anything goes reign of error, but he he put a ball and chain around the talent he had. Bylsma loosened things up and won the Cup, but then hasn't done anything since.

You always had the sense Thierrien wasn't exactly a "players coach", which would bode terribly for a rebuilding team like MTL. As for Crawford, he's basically failed everywhere he's gone after Colorado. I'm not sure who MTL's best choice is, but it's neither of the aforementioned two.

At least Therrien can speak French. That gives him a leg up on Crawford. But, in the end, I think it'll be Patrick Roy.

Well, aside from from Scott Gomes, the Habs don't have any talent. So, they don't have to worry about the ball and chain thing. :-)

crawford speaks french quite well. people in quebec really respect the effort he put in while coaching quebec city.

I think it's going to be Roy...and honestly, what he has done in juniors definitely deserves the shot. I know alot of people don't like him, but from the moment he retired he became serious about coaching and he's turned his team into an annual competitor, kinda like the Hunters have done in London. At the same time too he's had alot less top rate talent than those guys in London have had.

An animated Roy would be just what Habs fans need.

That statement could/will cause nightmares!

Underwhelming is right. Roy would be the most interesting pick of the 3, but I'm not sure how well he'd be received by the players.
