Lawrie fled from gunfire at Toronto mall

08:22 AM ET 06.04 | An early evening of shopping in Toronto turned into a furious dash to safety for Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie on Saturday. "We were walking by the food court near Sears, went up the stairs and all of sudden we hear gunfire," said Lawrie after Sunday's win over the Boston Red Sox. "We heard the noise, it was panic, we were out of there as quick as possible," said Lawrie. ... Ahmed Hassan, 24 of Toronto was shot dead, while six others were wounded, including a 13-year-old boy visiting from out of town, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head. "We heard seven gun shots, I guess the guy fired a warning shot and then he started shooting as fast as he could pull the trigger, it was a sound I've never heard before," said Lawrie.
