08:14 AM ET 06.05 | Mark Appel's slipping Pittsburgh began Monday night with the Astros taking 6-foot-4, 190-pound shortstop Carlos Correa, a 17-year-old from Puerto Rico, first overall. We knew the franchise was talking big. Now we see, at least for now, it will put some action to those words. That is a needed change for this organization, which lost a franchise-record 106 games last year. "Part of what we need to do is add guys that we think are going to be stars, aircraft carriers so to speak," Astros scouting director Bobby Heck said. "You have a chance to pick (No. 1 overall) in the draft, you should take a talent that is not just safe but has a chance to be a franchise player." Correa has that look.

I don't think this kid has even finished growing yet.

I also think the #1 pick in the draft is a good ballplayer. Can that land me a job as a team executive or major newspaper sports writer?

I enjoy Chick Corea's music.

Well, since they took him first overall, I would hope they think that.
