08:26 AM ET 06.05 | Ken Holland has already seen an early playoff exit and the retirement of Nick Lidstrom this offseason, and there is talk of the Red Wings being at a crossroads. Should they reach the open market, forward Zach Parise and defenceman Ryan Suter will be Detroit's primary targets. It's also believed Florida defenceman Jason Garrison intrigues the Wings, especially being a right-handed shot. Montreal's Travis Moen, who Detroit tried to acquire the 28-year-old at the trade deadline, would fill their needs for a gritty bottom six forward. ... [Said Holland:] "We're going to be making decisions in 10 or 15 minutes on July 1st. Obviously, the team is in transition. We're hoping the transition takes only five, six or seven weeks."

Remember how bad things were before Lidstrom showed up on the scene in Detroit? Could be headed there again.

weren't people calling them 'the Dead Wings" back then?

my comment was more facetious than anything else

Similar demise and/or transition was expected after Yzerman retired. Hank is a great leader, which will help, and you've gotta have faith in Holland. Could it be a dip for the Wings? Sure, it could, but I would bet on the Wings continuing success rather than the Leafs finding success.
