08:05 AM ET 06.06 | Perhaps the most important offseason injury in Baltimore could have been avoided. Despite continuing to say he tore his right Achilles tendon during conditioning drills, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs injured his right lower leg playing basketball on Sunday, April 29, according to staff members who attended a three-day basketball tournament in which Suggs played that weekend. "He got hurt Sunday prior to the [basketball tournament] championship game," said Herman (Sonny) Hoffman, the director of the Akchin Gymnasium in Maricopa, Ariz., where the tournament was held. Asked if he believed that was when Suggs injured his Achilles, Hoffman said: "More than likely it was."

He usually spends more time in the Steelers backfield than Mendenhall, I won't miss him this year....

Does it matter? Ravens will still pay him full and he will be in the sideline mentoring the players.

Maybe Suggs will stop trying to convince everyone he was hurt during "conditioning drills".

That's the thing... If he hurt himself "playing basketball", they may not have to pay him.

They don't want him ticked off and demanding a trade, though. I bet they pay him anyway. He's only 29, in the middle of a 6-year contract. Lots of gas left in that tank.

D'oh! Suggs is 55. That's a picture of Ray Lewis.

No, that would be an unsanctioned activity, and if he got hurt they wouldn't have to pay him.
