08:15 AM ET 06.06 | The saga of demoted and hard-to-move John Lannan continues. The Dodgers and Rockies have had recent discussions with the Nationals about the veteran left-hander, but no trade is close, according to major-league sources. The Nationals want any club that acquires Lannan to pay the rest of his remaining salary and part with at least one legitimate player, sources say. Lannan, 27, is owed just under $3.5 million of his $5 million salary. He is again eligible for arbitration in 2013, and then will become a free agent. The Rockies "kicked the tires" on Lannan but were turned off by the price, while talks between the Dodgers and Nationals have been only preliminary, sources say.

3.5, Lannan must not be too good...but we knew that.

There must be something else wrong with Lannan. Lefties are very important in this game so he must be a head cast or hurt because his salary isn't out of range.

Looks like da Nats r Stuck with this guy, even if he loses in arbitration, they'll still have to pay him at least 4 Mil next year!

To me they should ask too much. I think he could be the final piece for a playoff team. Its only June the 6th. Start high and if the market isnt there by the trade deadline ask less. Nats arent really stuck with him. He would be starting for at least 20 other teams. He is way better than he gets credit for.

if the nationals are trying to get some top prospects for lannan, then they have to pay in full lannan's contract and that's that,,,
