Habs chose the wrong new coach

08:30 AM ET 06.06 | Marc Bergevin has made the first significant decision of his tenure -- or did he? There must be a reason [Michel Therrien] hasn't been a serious coaching candidate with any team since the Penguins cut him loose. Might have something to do with the fact that his style is more suited to handle juniors or minor leaguers. Nobody will admit it, but he could not have been the first choice of Habs rookie GM Marc Bergevin. Surely, Bergevin preferred Bob Hartley, a former Cup winner who wound up taking a job with the Calgary Flames last week. Snooze ya lose, right Marc? It's understandable Bergevin didn't hire Patrick Roy, who is said to have wanted more control than was being offered. But what about Marc Crawford?

No doubt. I'm at a loss over this hiring. He's known to be completely out of touch with his players. The Montreal media will eat him alive. But at the end of the day, at least he speaks French right? Right? Ugh...

Firstly, Therrien signed a contract ext in 08 right before he was fired so he wasn't able to coach for awhile.
Secondly, he came within 1 win of the cup.
Thirdly, the Habs stink and he is the kind of coach they need right now, much the same way the Pens needed him after Edzo left them floundering.
Hopefully he'll have learned from Pittsburgh and learn to adjust as well. You reach a point when you right the ship that you need to adjust. He didn't and lost the room with the Pens.
