Split decision on Bengals carries

08:09 AM ET 06.07 | Owing to OTA restrictions, Bengals running backs such as Bernard Scott had been relegated to working on fundamentals early in camp. After brief flashes of how good he could be, Scott will have his best chance yet to show his ability as he will be one of the featured backs. Gone are the days of one back consistently getting 25 carries a game and in is a backfield-by-committee approach in which there will be a more equal distribution of carries between Scott and BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Scott doesn't have any idea how many carries he will get per game, but he does think the setup will work better. Said Scott: "I think me and BenJarvus are going to be ready to handle how many carries they want to give us. I think it will be pretty even."

Let Ben Jarvus carry half the time. Let Green Ellis carry the other half.

Damn! Wish the Pats kept him.

They need to use B.Scott like they used James Brooks back in the day run him off tackle and swing passes out of the backfield so he can use his speed, they can't run him between the tackles like they did last year he's not a pounder.

Naa there not missing much, he really dropped off 2nd half of the year and had a problem holding onto the ball.

While BJGE has never fumbled. I thought he was a keeper for the Pats, but he went for the dollars.

If there was any position in the NFL that needs to make their money while they can, it's running backs. They are the definition of Not For Long in the modern game.

At least they are not in jail

They've got the Law Firm to keep it that way.

The difference between B.Scott and James Brooks is that JB could and did go up the middle for yards and broke several long ones doing it. Scott up the middle equals stuffed. He can do the outside at times but up the middle is not pretty. Leonard can go up the middle along with Ced Peerson so hopefully the Lawfirm can on a regular basis.

this will be interesting on a couple of levels. First, can the lawfirm run in a more conventional offense- one with a good quarterback (but not Tom Terrific) and a decent offensive line (but not the animals in New England). Second, how many carries can the lawfirm have and be successful? He will certainly take more pounding in Cincy, and there just isn't any other recognizable options to go between the tackles. Scott will be a great swingman, but he isn't that option.

And what of the Pats? Where do they get the back that will make 15-20 carries between the tackles? I am a longtime fan, but I just don't see it on the roster right now. Belichick is a savant when it comes to talent assessment, but it has gotta bother him a little to look at his bench and realize that Woodhead and Ridley are his features! And DO NOT SAY JOSEPH ADDAI!!!
