Manuel: Everything is 'whacked up'

08:22 AM ET 06.07 | Perhaps Freddy Galvis wasn't the long-term answer the Phillies need, but losing him to injury still hurts for Charlie Manuel. [This year, Philadelphia's] deficiencies have been laid bare -- but there was always Galvis, who has filled in at second base in the first 2 months of the season in a way that no one had a right to expect. ... Chase Utley and Ryan Howard are in Florida, playing games with invisible runners, still unable to field their positions or break from the batter's box. Their return is weeks away, as is that of Roy Halladay and his bum shoulder. The bullpen has been battered. The lineup has been inconsistent. Now, Galvis. As the manager said, "Everything about our team right now is kind of whacked up."

Every team has injuries in all sports. Charlie is use to that golden spoon in his mouth and right now that taste is bitter. Your job is safe stop bitching about everything and play on with what you have.

Golden spoon? Where was that golden spoon last year when the Phillies fielded a line-up missing at least 1 starter for 70-80% of the games? They still finished with the best record in baseball. Grant it, they had a much less competative division to play against last year, but that only counts for so much.

It's still early. This team has been known for absolutely sucking until July. And, with as good as the division is, they're still within reach of everyone at the moment. Talk to me Mid-August. I'll let you know then how worried I am. Then again, even if they're 10 games out going into September, I won't be worried. I've been alive for 26 seasons of baseball. The Phillies have finished playing after 162 more than they've played games 163+. It's not the end of the world.

Cole is gonna be pitching for the Dodgers next year.
