Rays 'barley holding on' without Longoria

Rays manager Joe Maddon, who used 50 different lineups in their first 55 games, expected his team to scuffle for runs without [Evan Longoria] (sidelined with a hamstring injury since May 1), but figured the two staples that sustained his team all of last season, right into a last-day berth in the playoffs -- pitching and defense -- would do the same during this crisis. But while the pitching has done its part -- the Rays lead the AL in ERA -- the defense, much to Maddon's consternation, has been horrendous. "We're barely holding on," Maddon said Wednesday night, "and we're not going anywhere if we don't start catching the ball."

Sarge it's an up and down ride...we've had 4 three game losing streaks and 3 three game and 1 four game winning streaks so far. It's anybody's guess who is going to win the AL East this year...your Mets are doing well so it's going to be a good series.

Maddon's lineup changes are on Maddon mostly, he is a tinkerer.
Their defense is a concern right now, probably want at least two of defense, pitching and hitting. right now they got 1 and 1/2.
