08:02 AM ET 06.08 | Michael Jasper is self-aware enough to realize he's "still a big human being," but the once-440 pounder is hoping to put his weight issues behind him. A full offseason of hard conditioning work in Orchard Park has Jasper in the best shape of his life, at 375 pounds, and hopeful of making the roster in his second season with the team. Jasper is the "mountain in the rough" the Bills picked in the seventh round in 2011 because of his remarkable size and agility. He played at 440 pounds at Bethel, an NAIA school in McKenzie, Tenn. He had trimmed down to the 380 range last spring. Before the draft, he ran a time of 5.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash, had a 32-inch vertical jump and broad-jumped 9 feet, 5 inches.

Slimmed down from 440 to 375 ????

WOW

I need to know how he did it... I could use about 65 lb less myself.

"he ran a time of 5.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash"

Inertia probably meant it took 80 yards to come to a complete stop after hitting the 40.

Damn, that's still big.

June 8, 2012  08:31 AM ET

That's a lot of trimming. Industrial trimmer required.

He obviously has the work ethic to succeed.

Did they clear the runway when this guy did the long jump? Somebody could have been killed.

Yeah, round, like that goddam spinny thing.

June 8, 2012  09:06 AM ET

More importantly, what did his broad jump register on the Richter Scale?

And who was the unlucky broad? (Sorry, it was a cheap joke but I had to do it)

Wait a minute. The best shape of his life?

Doesn't that imply that he was born at 440 pounds? Man, his momma could squat down in front of a hockey goal and have a 0.0 goals against average.

June 8, 2012  09:21 AM ET

Keep in mind round is a shape

What does the Richter Scale calculate when a 380 lb. man with a 32" vertical leap lands back on Earth?
