08:06 AM ET 06.08 | In the eyes of many, Thomas Robinson will be the second player taken in this summer's NBA draft, and, for the time being, that pick is held by Charlotte. While [Robinson] has yet to receive a call from the Bobcats, he has spoken to the Washington Wizards. Robinson also reiterated that he believes he's worthy of the top overall pick. Anthony Davis showed up to media availability in a shirt with the words "Check My Stats." Robinson, who was wearing a dress shirt and tie, was stunned when told about Davis' attire. "If this is about stats, I'm the top pick," Robinson said. "I've got to get one of those shirts."

Do your draft homework...lots of very good players have been chosen #2..more than #1 picks! I also believe everything thought Oden was the sure fire #1 player and Durant was a consolation at #2...hmmmmm....

No......actually.......everyone thought they were both "sure fire".

**If** Oden didn't have bad wheels, he's be playing 35 minutes a game and would be pulling serious all-star consideration year in and year out.

But hey......it is what it is.

I guess it just depends on what "it" is.

Oh Im not knocking Greg...hes actually a relative of mine by marriage and a really good guy. But I have to disagree, there was NO argument about who should have been #1 that year. Every GM around the league was touting Oden as the "next great center" and they all said you have to build around the big man. Apples to oranges I know..but Im just pointing out another instance where the #2 player turned out better than the "sure fire, cant miss #1"

I'm not sure you remember correctly. There was definitely a lot of argument and debating about who should have been the number 1 pick between Oden and Durant. Many of the talking heads and GMs thought that Durant should have been number one. But, no matter the order, Oden likely would have still been hurt and injury prone and Durant would have been one of the best scorers on the planet.

Its based on the same theory why Bowie was taken ahead of MJ...basketball ppl believe you build around a big man. Look at some of the stiffs taken #1, just bc they were big men: Kandi man, Bogut, Kwame (first ones I could think of). The NBA has always believed you build around a C and not a G, thats why there wasnt much debate that year but ur right...I have no idea what Im talking about

Depends on the need of the team, If New Orleans wanted someone with more polished scoring skills then you go Robinson. If you want someone who can affect the game on both ends consistently even without scoring you go Davis-coupled with his ability to become so much better since he has only been a big man for maybe two and a half years because of that growth spurt. Robinson had better stats because his team wasnt loaded with future NBA players and high school all-americans at every position. Simple as that.

I think Davis isnt a bonafied center in the NBA at this point (no post up game), I would rather see him as the athletic, mid range jumper shooting, weakside rebounding and shot blocking power forward type. The Hornets need to take the best player for whatever scheme they want. Two guard doesnt make much sense with Gordon there and no points good enough to go high as 1. Davis, Robinson and possibly Kidd-Gil would make sense
