08:07 AM ET 06.08 | Though he expressed a little disappointment when Charlotte lost the NBA draft lottery, Anthony Daivs is already forming an important relationship. [Davis] has a reputation of not getting excited about much. He does, however, perk up every time he gets text messages from his likely new boss -- New Orleans Hornets coach Monty Williams. Williams has traded texts with Davis since the Hornets won the NBA's draft lottery and the chance to take Davis with the No. 1 pick. ... Davis' Kentucky Wildcats won the national championship at the Final Four in New Orleans in April. He has some family members in the city who are excited for his arrival. Also ecstatic are Hornets fans, who suddenly have hope for a brighter future.

Any reason for celebration in N'awlins is a good one.

Hope on one hand, and pee on the other. See which one shows the results. The Hornets need more than Davis to improve on a 21-45 record.

I digress; you've got to start somewhere.

he's SOOOOO thin-it will take him time to grow into his body, until then he will be thrown around like a rag doll

If I remember correctly, you said the same thing about Kevin Durrant.

Same size (weight) as Kevin Garnett.....

Same size (weight) as Marcus Camby.....

Just sayin'.

Not sure if he did or didn't......but at leat Durrant plays the '3' vs the '4'.

BTW......a bit taller & heavier than Durant.

5 years ago, while the naysayers were trying to compare Kevin Durant and Greg Oden, there was talk amongst some about how little Durant could bench press; and why Oden was the better choice at #1. How'd that work out? If the NBA ever puts a bench press in the paint, call me.

Not...Davis is 6'10 anf "listed" at 220. Durant is listed at 235...FYI

I can't agree Jgp. 3yrs man? I think he will be good defensively at the 4. He will take his lumps against some of the elite PF's in the league just like other rookies will. I am predicting like 10-12 ppg and 5-6 rpg and probably 1-2blocks/g depending on how many minutes he gets 28-34min/game watch he put up those stats. I see him having a very similar rookie season like Garnett had.

Must've put on that weight in the last off-season......last year OKC had him listed at 215.

Still don't see him at 235, though.

Kinda like Charles Barkley being listed as 6'6" for most of his career.....

Totally disagree with you here. He will be ROY. Guaranteed. With his motor and the way he can impact the game defensively, he will make an impact. All he'll need to do offensively is make layups and free throws.
