A's inching toward cutting Manny loose

08:09 AM ET 06.08 | Where it goes from here, no one knows, but Manny Ramirez hasn't generated much momentum for himself. [A's GM] Billy Beane said Thursday that he is not ready to cut ties with the aging slugger yet. But Beane also said he has no indication when Ramirez might be ready for a call-up. ... It begs the question: Is it realistic to think Ramirez, 40, can make an impact on this year's club? The A's sat eight games back of AL West-leading Texas leading into Thursday's series finale against the Rangers. "As you get deeper into the season, that is a question you've gotta ask yourself," Beane said. "The other thing, too, is you don't want to just try something and make a (roster) move here that's maybe irreversible."

QUOTE(#2):

It's amazing tht once these guys are caught doing roids, how bad their careers have become. Manny, arod, pettite, Sosa, etc...all downhill since they were caught or aroused major suspicion.

Pettitte?

Pettitte just had a 10 K game the other night. His career hasn't fallen by the wayside.

It's no wonder why Alec Baldwin got into trouble on the runway.

Consider the source of the comment you quoted. He's beginning to make Razor Ray and stupidmoron look intelligent and reasonable.

Why do these teams think these older players have something left. You have the Jays toying with Vald and now the A's with Manny. I guess you think these guys are 30 not 40. If this was true neither one of them would consider your team in the first place.

The chance of Manny or Vlad being a glimpse of their former selves is enough to take a small risk for these clubs. If nothing else, they'll help fill some seats.

The sport will be better because of it.

If we can get rid of more **** such as Manny, TO, Ochosucko and the like, the world would be a better place.
