08:12 AM ET 06.08 | What makes Reds prospect Billy Hamilton intriguing, beyond the obvious, is that he's still hitting, too. Hamilton stole four bases [Tuesday] night, giving him 67 steals in 56 games this season. Minor-league seasons are 140 games, rather than 162 games, yet he's still on pace for 160 steals on the year. Seriously: One. Six. Zero. He also stole 103 bases in 135 games last year and now has 232 steals (at an 84 percent success rate) in 303 games since the Reds made him a second-round pick in the 2009 draft. ... This year he???s batting .322 with 33 walks and a .410 on-base percentage in 56 games, and while 54 of his 74 hits are singles he has shown some power and ... well, he turns almost every single into a double by just stealing.

Impressive, but he's still only in advanced A ball. He's still a long way from the majors.

One sort of neat aspect is that Sliding Billy Hamilton stole 914 bases from 1888-1901. He's in the hall of fame if you're not familiar with him. He had a .344 lifetime batting average, too.

Love it...bring back some excitement to baseball with the speed guys. We'll have to see how he handles MLB when he comes up.

You bet - some teams have some speed but not like in the 80's and other years. I remember Whitey ball - great pitching, defense, and speed on offense. Perfectly built for Busch Stadium's hard surface.

Can't wait to see him in the bigs. He has scored from 2nd on a sac fly, scored from 1st on a single. Imagine him in front of Votto.

The Reds better hope he doesn't want to pitch to . Dusty might ruin him like he did Pryor and Woods career.

He is such an interesting prospect. Some have noted that his success rate is good but perhaps not fantastic. Well, the guy is still learning how to steal bases! There's no way that he's mastered his technique and his reading of pitchers and catchers by age 21. He should get better.
