08:18 AM ET 06.08 | So much for Mark Richt being on the hot seat. As expected, Richt received a new five-year contract that will extend his agreement with Georgia through the 2016 football season. ... The financial terms of Richt's new deal stayed basically the same at $2,811,340 per year. However, the Bulldogs doubled Richt's performance bonuses, meaning an SEC championship would be worth $200,000 to him and a national championship could mean $800,000 extra. "That's among the top in college football, if not the top," [Greg McGarity] said of the incentives. The most notable change was the penalty for Richt leaving of his own fruition was reduced from $2 million per year under the old agreement to zero under the new deal.

So they say the most notable aspect of the terms is the reduction/elimination of the penalty of Richt leaving.

Nothing like being told "Hey, if you want to leave, we're not gonna stop you" to build up your self-confidence.

At least they wont have to worry about paying the $800k

Maybe so, but with that marshmallow league schedule, that $200k is in play. He will likely at least get the chance to have a shot at that check.

How can any team in the SEC have a marshmallow league schedule? Aren't all SEC league games the greatest test known to mankind?

Well, your east division champ lost to my Spartans, so I guess none of the teams in the east could win the B1G, since we couldn't either.
