LSU AD shoots down Sherrill's Thanksgiving game claim

08:19 AM ET 06.08 | As Thanksgiving stories in June go, this one was delicious. Just a day after former Texas A&M coach Jackie Sherrill told radio personality Bo Mattingly that Texas A&M and LSU would play a prime time game on Thanksgiving night, LSU athletic director Joe Alleva denied that anything was set in stone during his own radio interview. "It's already been discussed," Sherrill said Wednesday. ... But Alleva wasted no words in shooting Sherrill's comments down. "Well, that's totally wrong. I don't think Jackie knows what's going on," Alleva said on an interview found on Bayou Bengals Insider. "I don't think he's been at SEC meetings and I don't think he's knows what's up."

You guys give JWS a hard time, but he said the same thing about aTm going to the SEC before talks happened. He has friends inside the SEC offices (see Templeton, Larry). I wouldn't write it off just yet. Also Alleva denied that anything was set in stone. Alleva didn't say that there haven't been any talks about the possibility.

You're right, K Doggie. He didn't deny there had been a discussion. Just that JWS didn't know Jack about the details. Maybe he wanted to be the one to make the announcement and JWS trumped him.
