Will Bulls trade to draft Barnes?

09:54 AM ET 06.09 | North Carolina small forward Harrison Barnes, projected in most mock drafts as a high lottery pick, said he met with Bulls management Thursday at the NBA draft combine. "It was good," Barnes said Friday. "Coach (Tom) Thibodeau was there and we just kind of talked about where their team was, where they saw themselves going, and the personality traits I have are similar to what they want to keep on that team." The Bulls own the 29th pick this year, so any chance to select Barnes would necessitate a trade. That Barnes plays the same position as Luol Deng raises eyebrows, particularly in an offseason during which Deng has said he will play in the London Olympics with a torn ligament in his left wrist.

Barnes is way overrated and although he has great potential and a great upside, he will in no way in the immediate future transform any team into 10 more wins. Barnes showed us all his disappearing act in the NCAA's and thus teams should be forwarned about this guy. He has a lotta work on that jump shot and also taking people to the rack off the dribble. Don't put too much stock in this guy......at least for now!

If Chicago can get Barnes, then trade Deng.
Amnesty Boozer, Elton Brand may be available for cheap. They're the same players anyway.

Perhaps a more realistic deal is Deng for Toronto's pick at 8. Then amnesty boozer and throw any money you have at KG and Nash to hold down the fort until rose gets back. Draft a pure shooter/scorer like Duke's Rivers and go from there. Perhaps they pick up Brewer's option for insurance

Nash, Rivers, Brewer, KG, Noah...for next year

Nash, Rose, Brewer, KG, Noah...for year two

I assume both Nash and KG would Then retire but it's worth a shot

I'm a duke fan, but I've been praising barnes game for years. He will be the 4th pick to the cavs, and will develop into a really great NBA scorer. Combined with irving, the cavs will have one of the best young and coming backcourts in the NBA going forward.

Bulls pretty much have to trade Deng to make this work. That's a risky move and one that I don't see happening.

Pleeeeeeeeeae nobody on that team could shot outside especially against Kansas....Roy Williams didnt see that the White point guard that replaced starting guard couldnt dribble both ways. That Freshman shouldve sat HARD on the bench!

I chuckled reading this, way to not actually pick a side of liking Barnes as a prospect or not. I think he's a solid guy, especially as a #2 guy on a team but not a take over a game talent. Kind of Granger ish, you could do far worse

Beating Boston in a game 7 is going to be a tough one.

Not at home. It will be harder for Boston.

Yeah..I would like for The Boston Celtics to get all the top UNC players every year too. Wish in one hand & spit in the other.
