10:12 AM ET 06.09 | Army athletic director Boo Corrigan confirmed a future football series with Notre Dame is in the works and could be announced within the next month. Corrigan wouldn't elaborate on any further details. "We're working through details with the University of Notre Dame on a series," Corrigan said. "It's coming in the future. We're excited about a series that we are going to play with them." Asked where the games would be played, Corrigan said, "My place (Michie Stadium), their place (South Bend), the Yankees place, wherever else. We are in the final throes." Army and Notre Dame have met 50 times, but only played four times since 1995. The old Yankee Stadium hosted 22 games in the series. Army and Notre Dame last played on Nov. 20, 2010. That year, the schools were working on a return to Yankee Stadium in 2013, which fell through. Corrigan's tie to Notre Dame may have rekindle talks. Corrigan graduated from Notre Dame in 1990 and worked five years as the school's associate athletic director. Earlier Thursday, a source confirmed that Army and Notre Dame would play in 2013 at Yankee Stadium.

I know you are old enough to remember when the football and baseball teams shared a stadium...and it wasn't worth a crap. If Army and ND want to play there, I don't care.

Iconic teams playing in an iconic setting. Doesn't get any better than that unless you like to peruse the SEC rap sheets for felons and players who can't read or write.

Two irrelevant programs setting up another irrelevant thread on T&R.
Shouldn't conservation principals carry over into the cyberworld. I just know that someday we're going to find out that the internet is finite and we run out of memory and shut the whole thing down.
On that day I will damn this thread.

While you are there, better check on the Pitt players also. If I remember correctly, it was Pitt that was on top of the list in a SI article about arrested players. Ya might not be able to field a team this coming season. That would be such a shame.

Why? Why would vaunted NOTRE DAME, with all its pretensions of being a Top Ten team want to pad its schedule by playing (yet another) Service Academy? Are they a top ten team or are they a pretender? Top level teams do NOT play Service Academies. What are you going to prove against a bunch of student athletes at school under essentially an academic scholarship? (the Service Academies are no cost, and do not offer athletic scholarships). You are going to prove nothing. (Typical for NOTRE DAME of course). Pad your schedule against a lower tier team, and continue to pretend you are a top ten team. NOTRE DAME will continue to be a farce of a team if it continues playing against the Service Academies. NOTRE DAME, here's a hint - play Florida State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Michigan, Alabama, Texas, Auburn, you know, good teams. Or continue to be the sham that you are, with a padded schedule by playing lower tier teams. NOTRE DAME, were Morgan St, Slippery Rock, Stephen F. Austin, Ohio, Eastern Illinois, Midwestern State, and the University of the Blind not available? NOTRE DAME is and will always be a complete farce if it continues to play lower tier teams. Also, what team has the record for the longest losing streak in bowls? Yes, that's right, the answer can only be NOTRE DAME. What a sham of a football program they have there.

Notre Dame's OL will outweigh the USMA at West Point's DL by about 70 to 80 pounds per player. The ND OL will have a greater size disparity/advantage. The ND QB should have NFL aspirations. The West Point QB will be running a wishbone offense then serve our country honorably with 5 years service in the U.S. Army. Notre Dame, if you cannot figure out why people HATE you, think about this matchup. What are you doing? What are you trying to prove? Notre Dame, why are you shying away from real competition? Afraid? Notre Dame, you prove nothing with this matchup. Except that you will NEVER by respected or a top team when playing games like this. Time to "man up" Notre Dame, and play top 25 teams. Time to stop being a pretender and time to stop playing the Service Academies. Notre Dame, you come across like a pitiful "also ran" when you play the Service Academies. Stop padding your record with wins against lower tier teams.

Most bettors will tell you this: Bet on ND to cover the spread when they play inferior competition like the Service Academies, and take ANY good team to cover the spread against Notre Dame. Notre Dame: good against lower tier teams, lousy against top 25 teams.

Irrelevant is in the mind (eye) of the beholder.
Two iconic teams playing is not irrelevant, particularly when one of the teams has the most watched ratings on TV, and loyal fans. U$C is relevant only in the charting of NCAA violations!

SportsFun: Yes, three or more. It's a free country. Got to love the Fighting Irish, too. They love to play the Service Academies in order to pad their record. I think they beat the U.S. Naval Academy 43 times in a row. That just tells me that the two programs are on a different level. Of course that didn't stop ND from continuing the series in order to get all those cheap wins. Do any top 25 teams play the Service Academies on a continual basis? After they have already locked up the U.S. Naval Academy, what do they do? Try to sign up another Service Academy in order to pad the schedule. It's the Notre Dame way. How about this, SportsFun, why don't you tell me why this NON competitive series should occur. Who does it benefit? It benefits no one. Only ND could think they are accomplishing something beneficial for their football program as a result of playing football games against future Ensigns AND 2nd Lts. What losers.
