Seattle courting QB controversy

08:09 AM ET 06.11 | While the compelling tale of Brian Banks is taking over a few headlines, there is still a logjam at quarterback to straighten out in Seattle, which is playing some catch-up after losing two OTAs. [Matt Flynn] will earn $8 million in total compensation in 2012, compared to [Tarvaris Jackson's] $4 million in non-guaranteed base salary that he'll make only if he's on the final roster in Week 1. Carroll also committed a third round pick to add [Russell Wilson], which means he likely will factor into Seattle's long-term plans for the position. But Carroll said the monetary costs and draft picks are just the price teams have to pay to add value to the roster, and ultimately have nothing to do with who earns a starting job.

Carroll needs to go back to the college game.

When Tavaris Jackson is involved in a quarterback controversy, you've got problems.

Yeah, he can play that game that draft picks and money have nothing to do with the starting position but there's a big difference between what's being paid to an NFL starter and an NCAA starter.

I doubt TJ is on the roster at the start of the season. Unless Flynn sucks, I would expect the 'Hawks to hold onto him for a possible trade - hoping some other team's QB goes down during camp/pre-season. If not, I expect him to be released.

Word. He's recruiting all the QB's, and not giving any of them the knod.

I agree. TJ will definitely be looking for another team to hook up to by the time the season starts.

Nah. It's Monday. Don't take anything seriously.

If Seattle thought for one moment T Jackson was good enough they never would have gone after Flynn.
There is no competition. None.
