08:11 AM ET 06.11 | Playing for a team in Oklahoma City is tough for one's Q-Rating, and the same can be said of coaching there, too. It's taken four years for [Scott Brooks] to be on the receiving end of [the kind of recognition his team earned from its home crowd after winning the West]. ... One week prior to that trophy presentation, Brooks was rapidly blossoming into the scapegoat. People far and wide were throwing him under the bus for the 2-0 series hole the Thunder faced against San Antonio. Every decision Brooks made -- from sitting Serge Ibaka for the entire fourth quarter in Game 1 to his insistence on playing Derek Fisher over Thabo Sefolosha -- was being picked apart. Four wins later and Brooks is now beloved.

+1 - Yeah the story seems to be misleading a bit as I'm pretty sure Brooks is well respected the way he has handled and nurtured this young team.

I just hope they can keep this core together long-term

Everybody's a turncoat and they always seems to flip the script to their liking or when its feasible. This thing with Brooks is no different. At least I'm a constant, I love my Knicks. Oh, that comment has opened the door for a rash of Knicks hate comments........let the show begin!

As usual in our "microwave, the-sky-is falling-, overreactionary" society...there was some bashing saying he wasnt ready for the big stage and was being outcoached by Pop when OKC was down 2-0. Of course those same sports writers are praising Brooks today...flip flop

as much as i absolutely hate OKC, I haven't heard any players talking bad about Brooks. His rep is fine.

This is what I don't understand. How is the media all over Brooks about not playing his best players in game 1 and taking a loss.

But give Pop a pass for clearly playing his worse player, Bonner, in game 3 and game 4, which are games that ultimately cost the Spurs to lose this series.

How does the old veteran coach make the same dumb mistake of not having your best players on the court as the young coach, blow a 2-0 lead and still end up looking better than the young coach, who ends up in the Finals?

What is wrong with this picture?

They lost the series because OKC has a better team period.

I ain't gonna say that his 'rep' has been bashed (stupid headline.....) but he did take a lot of criticism for his games 1 & 2 management.....

Coaches get too much credit for their teams success, and too much blame for their failures. If OKC beats the Heat, the Oklahoman will find something else to write about.

Shouldn't be mad at OKC...you should be mad at your city council...just saying.
