08:25 AM ET 06.12 | Boy, times have changed quickly in Boston. The Bruins once considered goaltending their area of strength. But with Tim Thomas no longer in their plans, the Bruins took steps on Monday to make center their new go-to position. The Bruins re-signed Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell, their third- and fourth-line centers, to multiyear contracts. Kelly signed a four-year, $12 million extension. Campbell agreed to a three-year, $4.8 million deal. The Bruins now have their four primary centers (Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci being the others) under contract. ... The Bruins have just under $64 million committed to next season, including the annual cap hits to Thomas and Marc Savard.

If Rask plays like...well Rask....goaltending is still a good spot

June 12, 2012  08:47 AM ET

Chris Kelly is one of those max effort players, night in and night out.

Kelly at 3 mil. Boston fans would know better then me, but that seems a little pricey for a 31 yr old who had a career year scoring 20 goals for the first time and still never hit 40 points.
As for goalie, well Rask will either swim, or TT will be public enemy #1 if he sinks.

I think TT has gone a long way to playing his way out of Boston fans' good graces.

And he's none too popular with the Dems either. :-)

I was a huge TT fan. I hope that his intentions to spend time with his family are true and not a way to punish the Bruins.

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm not a Bruins fan either.

An interesting choice of words but where's the fun in that?

They always do.

Agreed...plays in every situation and brings it night in and night out...speed to burn too...the 3 million MIGHT be a tad high for a 20 goal scorer but he brings more to the table than just 20 goals....1 of the ebst 3rd liners out there..on the majority of teams he's a 2nd liner, on Boston, 3rd liner....i love the depth Boston has.

Im not worried about him..im a lil worried about his back-up.

Same but it looks like hes at the very least controlling his destiny...he now has leverage as to which team to be traded to....by the looks of it...Colorado.

Maybe so, but I have been a B's fan for a long time and I'm over it already.

Maybe a bit too much, but not outrageous. I would have pegged Kelly 1/2M less per year so I'm happy with that. Looking at other players in the league, though, that is probably about right.

And good for you. That's how it should be. Focus on the ones who are sticking around, playing 110% and want to go after another one! :)

I am anxious to see how Rask does with the reigns handed to him. He isn't as aggressive as TT, so some of the easier tip-ins won't happen.

Just curious, but why would he feel the need to punish the Bruins? He's done pretty well for himself with this team.
