Forte falling fast out of favor?

08:18 AM ET 06.13 | While Matt Forte sits, the Bears aren't hiding their affection for Michael Bush. I haven't heard a Bush endorsed this strongly around Lake Forest since the 2004 presidential election. "We love Michael Bush," offensive coordinator Mike Tice gushed Tuesday after the first minicamp practice. Coach Lovie Smith seconded that emotion. But not before Jay Cutler beat him to it. "He does things the right way," Cutler said, throwing around Bush compliments like spirals. The same can be said about backup running back Kahlil Bell, whose fluidity nicely complements Bush's rugged style. ... [Watching] the Bears run around in shorts and helmets did reinforce that Forte picked the wrong year to gauge what he is worth to the offense.

The Bears don't seem to take care of their players yo.

Seems like RBs have less and less leverage now when holding out, MJD and Forte better get to work!

It's a shame to see these kind of things happen. I think the way this contract issue has festered for the last couple seasons has just created such a level of animosity. Don't know what bothers me more...hearing this from the coaches or from the QB.

A lot of alliteration in that title. How about: Forte freaks over festering finances after keeping floundering team afloat.

The Bears have never been the classiest team when it comes to player relations...Besides, *new toys* always look better than the old ones.

Man, Cutler isn't showing much loyalty to Forte here. He better hope Forte doesn't hold a grudge if he ends his holdout. I could easily see Forte conveniently missing a block that ends up hurting Cutler. But hey, Cutler is use to having no blocking so maybe this isn't a problem after all.

They franchised him. That's big dollars. He should just shut up and play. If he's unhappy, let him test the waters next season as a free agent.
More players should just do that. Let the teams beg. Have a great season, and then tell the Bears management to pound sand.

Nothing changes in the world of the NFL. Thanks for what you done for us in the past but now there is new blood ready to take your place on the field.

True...they act like he wasnt 52% of the offense last season before he went down...you saw what Cutler did without him in the backfield. Pretty classless for ur franchise QB to NOT have the back of the franchise RB (one of the best in football)...best thing is to not say anything at all but definitely dont come out and say he needs to sign his tender!

The Cutler quote wasn't about Forte at all. He just said good things about Michael Bush. Just because he's pro-Bush doesn't mean he's throwing Forte under the bus.
Now, if Cutler had said, "Yeah, the holdout is hurting us," that would have been a slap. But he didn't. Instead, he stayed positive about the guys who are on the field.

One thing is for sure, Forte will not be playing through an injury, and risking his career, like he did last year.

We're talking practice, right? I remember another Bush from NO that always looked good..in practice. I wouldn't dump Forte just yet. He's shown he can do it, (when healthy).

I have to disagree. Whether he meant to or not, Cutler took a dig at last year's starting RB. If the roles were reversed and Forte said similiar things about a QB that the team brought in during the offseason Cutler would be pouting like the spoiled brat that he is.

Bear players watching how Management treats Forte can only be thinking; I wonder how they are planning to backstab me? Either get rid of Forte or pay him, otherwise the morale of the team will steadily go south.

They tagged him earlier in the year. The tag is 7.7 million for one year. All he has to do is sign on the dotted line.
I guess he wants more, a longer contract, and guarantees. With the lower cap and the short lifetime of a running back in this league, he's not being realistic.
