08:24 AM ET 06.13 | Having at one time or another scratched Barry Zito from a scheduled start or had Matt Cain pitch out of the bullpen, the Giants have considered such measures with struggling pitcher Tim Lincecum. Giants manager Bruce Bochy met with general manager Brian Sabean before Tuesday's game against the Astros, discussing the best course of action with [Lincecum]. Bochy said that Lincecum won't be skipping a start or moving to the bullpen, and will be making his next scheduled start against the Mariners this weekend. "Right now, the best thing is to keep throwing him out there," Bochy said. The two-time National League Cy Young Award winner has yet to break out of his season-long struggles.

The way he has been pitching, benching isn't "drastic" -- it's a blessed relief. Get this kid some counseling AND work in the film room to see what he's doing different.

Everyone has caught up to his herky jerky style of pitching...they let off the sinker/splitter he throws out of the strike zone...he falls behind and grooves the fastball which isn't Nolan Ryan like...I think he' s tipping his pitches and they haven't figured out what it is yet....

You have no one to blame but yourself. It is very clear you didn't learn your lesson with Zito with his long tern contract and now you have no other choice but to pitch him.

Not sure why you think this situation is similar to Zito's. The Giants signed Lincecum to a 2 year contract through 2013. This is not a long term contract like Zito's.

I saw toad talking the other day about Lincecum getting lazy because he's already got a ring and now a huge contract.
I think in toad's world, the Giants recently inked Lincecum to a mega-contract.

Worried about hurting the kid's self-confidence? Maybe the Giants should give Tim one of those "compete" trophies they give kids in little league, and tell him they love him no matter what. The Giants are full of "nice" guys, truth in fact, they're soft. Soft, soft, soft like Grandma's tummy, and Lincecum falls right into that mold.
