Has Coors ruined Guthrie, too?

08:24 AM ET 06.13 | Coors Field seems to have its hooks in another pitcher at the foot of the Rockies. We are witnessing the emotional meltdown of Jeremy Guthrie, the team's alleged staff ace. There's a look in his eyes. And the look says: Get me the heck out of here. Coors Field can do irreversible pyschological damage to a pitcher. In his first season as a member of the Rockies, I'm afraid Guthrie might already be a lost cause. His statistics are a train wreck, so gruesome you should turn away but can't stop staring: 6.91 earned run average, 15 home runs surrendered in 56 innings, foes batting .326 against him. ... The ballpark is shattering an intelligent man with a kind heart into 1,000 shards of insecurity.

My goodness! SOMEONE at "The Denver Post" (actually, a very fine paper) is waxing eloquent these days. It's a shame -- by all accounts, Guthrie is a good guy. Coors Field ain't for everybody. Move him.

I never thought the Indians should have traded him to Baltimore back in the day. He's a servicebale pitcher, but the ball just carries in Denver.

You knew how it was before you went there. Maybe you need to blame the problem on being greedy instead of Coors Field. Now you want to bail out and pitch somewhere else. Jeremy don't you owe the Rockies more than I want out or maybe the real truth is that you are just a average overpaid left handed pitcher.

Bob Apodoca is the worst pitching coach in MLB. That does not help.

Ummmm he was traded, he didn't sign with them as a free agent.... Guthrie was shipped to the Rockies for reliever Matt Lindstrom and right-hander Jason Hammel going to the Orioles.

Coors has ruined a lot of guys but I'd take an ice cold one on a hot summer (late spring actually) day.

Guthrie was not a good pitcher towards the end of his stop in Baltimore. I think we got the better end of the dael that sent him to Coors and apparently caused a brain cramp

In all fairness, he's never really been dominant. Underrated and unlucky perhaps... good pitchers on bad teams still look good. He hasn't.

He was a serviceable reliever on a Very Bad Mets team... He must talk a very good game to still be there after this long.
Bigger news is - Guthrie (20 games under .500 for his career) is the Ace???

Yep, and this is the guy who submitted an arbitration figure of $10.25 MILLION from the Orioles last year after going 9-17.

He is a left handed starter that didnt pitch poorly for the O's. He never got any run support. I am sure he wishes he stayed in Baltimore now though......
