Tigers rising to nab DE from Tide, Gators?

08:30 AM ET 06.13 | Auburn and Alabama are, again, among a top prospect's final choices. Jacksonville, Florida defensive end DeMarcus Walker has been a major target for most programs in the SEC, ACC and elsewhere thanks to his quickness, play-making abilities and his 6-foot-3, 275-pound frame. Walker has been heavily involved with Alabama from early on in his recruiting process and many believed that the Crimson Tide, along with the Florida Gators, were among the favorites to land his signature. After visiting Auburn's campus on Monday for the first time, Alabama and Florida's status as the top two choices for Walker may have changed. "Everybody who is in my top eight is pretty high but Auburn sticks out more than anybody so far," Walker [said].

Unfortunately, after a couple of 8-5 seasons, the "perennially playing for championships" tag is gone from da Gatah, and those that stepped into our shoes to grab that tag are making out well with it.
Up to us to re-fill our own shoes. Can't blame anybody but ourselves.

Not sure I understand what Chizik and company's recruiting objective is (if there is one). As of yesterday, they have 12 verbal commits. I think 10 of them are four or five star defensive players, a QB and a kicker. I know they recruited heavily on offense last year. Guess theya re just trying to balance things out.

I was wondering the same thing, if they are going to alternate from a offensive (2012) to a defensive (2013) recruiting classes every other year.

This is easy. Auburn rolled out a passle of babes from Georgia (Their other great recruiting success) and some shiny future freshman coeds from Dothan. The guy is gaga for yaya.
