08:33 AM ET 06.13 | While its athletic director, Dave Brandon, has taken some heat for moving too quickly into the future, Michigan is also honoring its past. The Michigan football program is opening its retired vault. Its plan to honor legends by having current players wear their jerseys will continue this season with three more following Desmond Howard's No. 21 last year: former U.S. President Gerald Ford's No. 48, Bennie Ooosterbaan's No. 47 and Ron Kramer's No. 87. All three had been retired jerseys, and their families gave U-M the blessing to reintroduce them in memory of the deceased legends. U-M made the announcement Tuesday night, stating that it's unknown which three current Wolverines will wear the honored jerseys.

I always wondered why they would use 00 instead of just a single 0. Does having an extra one make it more of a 0 than just one 0 does?

Might as well only 4 numbers retired and that takes up alot of closet space.

Most fans don't remember most of these players anyway. The AD to me has to much power at Michigan especially letting someone wear President Ford's jersey.

TCU has, at least in baseball. Kevin (I think) Crone...freshman first base from AZ about 6' 5" and 260 lbs. Did pretty good this year, should be a beast over the next 2 or 3 years. I think GP could make use of him during the fall...don't know if he's asked or not.

That President was not elected and he was selected to be Vice President under the 25th amendment, first VP to be selected in that manor and the he inherited the Presidentcy after Nixon resigned. When he ran for re-election a peanut farmer beat him.

Might have been an actor but he did a damn good job of it. Wish we had someone as worthy of the part still acting. I know, I know...no politics. I do disagree with un-retiring jersey numbers though. Otherwise what's the point of retiring them in the first place?
