08:41 AM ET 06.13 | Though it seems like quite a while ago now, the Penguins were a popular pick to win the Cup as the playoffs opened. The team with the best odds to win in 2012-13, according to the gambling website bodog.ca, is the Pittsburgh Penguins with 7/1 odds. The defending champion Kings are listed in second place at 11/1 while the New York Islanders, Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild have the worst odds at 75/1. Among Canadian teams the Vancouver Canucks have the best odds at 12/1 followed by the Toronto Maple Leafs at 35/1, the Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets at 40/1, the Calgary Flames at 50/1, with the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens sharing 60/1 odds.

Right...let the offseason begin. I saw this in the paper this am. I thin The rangers are 2nd choice. Someone should save these figures, and next June see how accurate this was.

Oh Pulllleeasse! If there is a season the Pens will finish 4th, like they always do, and may actually get out of the first round, but Stanley Cup? A lot of stars would have to align before that would happen.

Toronto has 35/1 odds??? It just goes to show that Vegas oddsmakers know nothing about the NHL.

I refuse to stop. I will always do this, if for no other reason than the delightful reactions.
So I will continue to give newspaper subscriptions as gifts, because there is "No Present like The Times". Or use the same to put wet shoes on, because "These are The Times that dry men's soles"
And I apologise for none of it

I agree with this, and I do take issue with the underdog call also.
8 seed indeed, but they were picked early on by some people, and just underacheived all season.

am I the only one here that feels that Toronto being at 35 to 1 is really only put to stimulate some betting action in the world's biggest hockey market? Ridiculous.

that's because everybody likes the frontrunners. I would never have put Vancouver in the finals, that's for sure.
