Ryan sending mixed signals on Tebow

08:01 AM ET 06.14 | Mark Sanchez, after completing a season marked by inconsistencies and re-upping with the Jets, is again ready to take another swing at establishing himself as the undisputed leader of Gang Green's offense. Tebowmania notwithstanding, Rex Ryan has tried to make it clear that Sanchez is the unquestioned starter. At minicamp on Wednesday, Ryan said that "there may be times" in the future when Tim Tebow plays with the starters before a team spokesman clarified those remarks and said that the coach meant that Tebow will get first-team snaps only in Wildcat packages. Ryan & Co. may be oversensitive to rumblings of a burgeoning quarterback controversy, but Sanchez will undoubtedly be the starter when the regular season begins.

The Jets Suck!

Thanks for the intro, Mick.

Seriously, Mr. Sanchez wasn't the undisputed leader of Gang Green's offense last year, when he had no one even challenging him.

Excellent start to this thread.

It's their manifest destiny to do so.

Anytime brother...........How goes it ????

It's a beautiful day, it's almost Friday and the weekend looks fine. I've got "buy-in" to make a lobster dinner for Fathers' Day on Sunday, too. Lobster is down to $5.99 a pound.

Yeah, life is good. Retirement still treating you well?

The next time Sanchez has a game where his completion rate hovers around 50% and has a couple picks, the crowd's shouting of Tebow-Time will be deafening.

June 14, 2012  09:06 AM ET

Teddy Bruschi said it best on ESPN the other night. Tebow is the back-up QB and has no business talking. As a team, the only QB you should hear from is the starter. Sets a bad precedent.

June 14, 2012  09:10 AM ET

Sounds to me like the head coach needs to go tell the team spokesman to shut his damn mouth...

June 14, 2012  09:15 AM ET

Baby Jesus cries every time Tebow does not take a snap with the first team.

The problem with the Jets is that Sanchez, who, despite all his weaknesses, probably is the better quarterback, is not a leader, and Tebow is.

So who do you go with - the weaker quarterback who is a natural-born leader, or the marginally better quarterback with limited leadership skills?

Man, this team is so effed.

But Mark Sanchez wets his swaddling clothes every time Tebow does take a snap from center.

What would Rex know about shutting mouths. Best we can hope for is a foot in it.

Good Morning Boys!!! At the Doctors for Checkup, has Rex ever given anything else but mixed signals?
