08:03 AM ET 06.14 | While the learning curve for Robert Griffin III has impressed the Redskins, it's up to Raheem Morris, in some part, to blunt it. Before joining the Redskins this offseason as the team's defensive backs coach, Morris spent three seasons delivering opening remarks as the head coach in Tampa Bay.... Earlier, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan joked that Morris can get under his skin with his constant trash talk during practice. Morris said he was glad to hear it and intended to "pump up the juice a little bit during training camp." "To create that competitive environment, it's like playing pickup basketball sometimes and you talk a little trash," said Morris. "Go out there and have fun, while still getting the job done."

Some new swagger in DC. Good to see it, but don't get overconfident.

Beat the Saints in Week 1, then strut. Not before.

Sure, but hopefully it comes more from the players rather than from the DB coach.

We'll see how long it lasts before Kyle tells daddy that he doesn't like the way the DB coach is talking.

As long as his new players don't quit on him the way his former players did, Morris should be a good addition to the Skins.

Meh, trash talking during OTCs, whatever motivates the D, I guess

The "trash talk" is between the offensive and defensive coordinator.

Would you rather he put a bounty on someone ? Stop whining.

Missed the boat or left a sinking ship? All the NFL teams in Florida are too busy bailing to worry about rowing.

Hard to say what happened in TB bc the year before they surprised everyone and won 10 games...seems like he had a bad (terrible) season and they blamed it squarely on him. Coaches dont forget how to win from one season to the next...TB has been in shambles for years now, he just happened to be scapegoat #2 after Gruden

Sorta like the Cubs being overconfident heading into the 2nd inning tied.

"it's like playing pickup basketball sometimes and you talk a little trash"

And sometimes you tear your achilles tendon. Watch yourself, Raheem.

His name is Morris. He's got nine lives.

June 14, 2012  01:32 PM ET

lets hope the NFL doesnt get ahold of this and call it trash talking gate...Since other people are getting offended the league might suspend him for not being more professional...HAHA

June 14, 2012  01:43 PM ET

Question: Who's gonna get a Head Coaching gig (or their next gig in Raheem's case) first?

Little Shanahan or Morris?

June 14, 2012  01:57 PM ET

So they created a new position on the team; trash talking coach. Now all they need is an Offensive Coordinator.

as long as it stays in practice and we don't suddenly have an **** like Rex Ryan opening his mouth to fabricate motivation
