Stern radio appearance takes ugly turn

08:08 AM ET 06.14 | Jim Rome managed not to call the commissioner "Chris," but he sure did spark a tense exchange with David Stern. Talking about the NBA draft lottery -- where the New Orleans Hornets, a team owned by the league but is in the process of being sold to Saints owner Tom Benson, won the No. 1 overall pick -- Rome asked Stern: "Was the fix in for the lottery?" "I have two answers for that," Stern said. "No, and a statement: shame on you for asking." After some wrangling over the legitimacy of the question, which Stern called "ridiculous" and "silly," the NBA commissioner asked Rome, "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" There was a long pause before Rome said, "Yeah, I don't know that that's fair."

Stern pulled an old Jedi lawyer trick. Like the question asked by Rome, by either saying yes, or no to the question either is saying your guilty of said act.

Rome was right on at least about this assertion "the fix". It was absolutely in as has been with a lot of Stern's directives. Stern has overseen a lotta scandals. 1) Patrick Ewing Lottery, 2) The Chris Paul Debacle, 3) The Lockout, 4) This Year's Lottery, and last but not least 5) The Dream Team Scandal.
Let me elaborate on the Dream Team mess. There was this scandal orchardstrated by one Michael, Magic, Malone, Barkley, all cowards at that time who lacked mutual respect for an individual's accomplishments. I didn't include Bird in this because his character would never allow him to participate in a outright disgraceful scam. The scandal I'm implying about is the Isiah Thomas forced off the Dream Team because they didn't like him. Yes, and Stern sat back quitely and allowed this farce to take place in front of the entire world. Thomas deserve with every ounce of righteousness to be one that team and represent the US. A one in a lifetime opportunity stolen from him because of a buncha selfish Pricks threatening to not participate in the Olympics and respresent our Nation if Thomas (who deserved a selection more than 75% of those selected at that time) was selected to the team. This act within itself was a disgrace and totally unsportsmanlike and unprofessional. Stern could have simply stood up as a commissioner and said to them "guys were better than this" and I will not have any of this, period! You can disgrace yourself but you will not hold the Olympic Committee hostage and under threat. If he had done this, they would have all been held accountable and shamed, but Stern elected to sit back and allow this IMO criminal act take place. Stern......do anyone really need to know anymore about this guy. Thomas at the time was more accomplished than everyone selected except for Magic, Bird, and Jordan and fact is Jordan at that point had only accomplished one championship while Thomas had two already. The rest of the stars selcected could not even approach Thomas's stature. Tony Kornhiesher was the only writer at the time to openly state how disgraceful this act was.
Lastly, even to this day, these four individuals have never openly admitted to or apologized to the American Public as well as the rest of the World how classless and disgraceful this act was. I still hold them resposible and I will never fully respect them as persons. Stern included!

Thomas brought it on himself, Apple...
More food for thought - the team unanomously agreed that if Stockton couldn't play (which was a concern at the time) they were going to bring Dumars on board instead of Isiah.
That stunt he pulled at the All-Star game freezing out Jordan rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. He got what he deserved.

Stern has been behind a lotta scandals and Rome has this one absolutely right. They are as follows: 1) Pat Ewing Lottery, 2) Chris Paul Debacle, 3) This Year's Lottery, 4) The Lockout, 5) The Dream Team Scandal. He, Stern is the ultimate crook.
Stern overseen the Dream Team Scandal in total silence. He allowed four individuals to act unamerican, selfish, classless and disgraceful under his watch. Yes, Jordan, Magic, Malone, Pippen, with underlying support from Barkley. Larry Bird character would never allow for him to participate in such a classless and disgraceful act. These individuals not only conspired but threaten the Olympic Committee with non participation in a national representation of our country if Isiah Thomas was selected to the team. STERN SAT BACK DISGRACEFULLY AND LET THIS HAPPEN. This individuals weren't man enough to set aside their personal feeling for the good of the country, and allow for an indiviual's(Thomas) accomplishments represent itself as should have been. They elected to disgracefully threaten the committee. Selfish, utter selfishness! Thomas deserve to be on that team more than 75% of those selected. He was more accomplish than anyone except Magic, Bird, Jordan, and in fact, Jordan had only only ring while Thomas already had two. All the other individuals were even less accomplished at that time than Thomas. Even Chuck Daly, his own coach, cowardly and disgracefully sat back in silence and allow this debacle to take place. Tony Kornhieser was the only writer to openly state how disgracful and criminal this act was. Stern has long been a crook and unsaviory fellow.
Lastly, even to this day, these cowards have never apologized to the American Public for their very unpatriotic and selfish behaviour. An apology is well deserved from these cowards. I have and never will give them the ultimate respect because of this selfish act and lack of contriction exhibited by these individuals. I don't care much for Thomas as he has a healthy hand in the destruction on my Knicks, but I on the other hand respect his on court accomplishments as should be, and these unsaviory characters should have!
