Has game passed Riley by?

08:08 AM ET 06.14 | For nearly two days, and at times during this postseason, critics have been working over Dwyane Wade for appearing to be a step slow. What if Wade is not Miami's only aging legend? What if Heat president and architect Pat Riley, too, has lost a step? ... [If] this grouping indeed has created so much pressure as to prevent winning, that is at least partially on Riley. If this just does not work, that, too, is on Riley. This is why, as much as LeBron James and Erik Spoelstra, D-Wade and Chris Bosh have riding on beating Oklahoma City in these NBA Finals and starting to fulfill a predication of "not five, not six, not seven" championships for Miami, so, too, does Riley. Legendary does not provide a free pass, not forever, not when you stay in the game.

As far as the game changing when he coached...I would say yes...but as for how to scout players and build a team? I would say not neccessarily.

I simply cannot stand Riles but I will not understate his ability as this article has. I believe with every ounce of conviction that if Riles was coaching this Heat team this year or last year, rather than Spo, that the Heat would have or would won a championship. To suggest that the game has passed him by is utter nonesense. I often wonder whether or not this writers know if the sport has passed them by with some of these ridiculous articles.

Progress has not met expectation so he's a failure. It's as simple as that... remember the goal wasn't to make it to the finals but win seven or eight championships. With that kinda goal making two finals appearances is underachievement. Of course he lost it...

I've never been a fan of 'Riley Coyote.' I'm not impressed with anything he's ever done. Actually, I thought he should have been fired after that 15-67 debacle. Doesn't surprise me at all that this little experiment hasn't worked either.

If Wade had stepped up in the 4th quarter then this wouldn't be a concern.
I'd be willing to bet he knows it too.

He just happend to be in the right place at the right time. LeFraud didn't go to Miami because of Riley; he went because of Wade, and Riley still hasn't been able to putthe pieces together to get the job done. Two years later they're still without a point guard, a center, or a bench. A loss in 2 finals isn't really much of an accomplishment. In fact it's a failure.
