08:29 AM ET 06.14 | Yes, Michigan's Brady Hoke insisted Wednesday, beating Ohio State remains his team's chief objective, but in-state rival Michigan State is also a significant thorn in his side. Speaking to about 450 high school football players Wednesday afternoon during the Sound Mind, Sound Body camp at Southfield High School, Hoke didn't sugarcoat his team's recent performance against the Spartans. "We play an in-state rivalry game against Michigan State, and they have beat our [butts] for the last four years," Hoke told the players. ... "It's been [a butt-kicking]. Just being honest with you. Sorry about the language, but it's true." Hoke rarely curses in public, so his passion for the Wolverines' losing streak in that game was evident.

"Back"?

They will be btwn 9-3 and 10-2 again. Don't think they were ever really "on top" in my lifetime. The year they won one of the polls they would have gotten beaten senseless by NEB had the two teams met-that tSUN team barely beat WSU in the Rose.

Good point, Michigan reminds me of Texas, Stanford, Arky, Oregon, Florida, Auburn, teams that are good, but never great, except for maybe a year or two. Actually there are quite a few college football teams that are good, but never won a NC, yeah some win a NC now and then, but they are not always "on top".

Go Michigan....and Hoke sees the real issues.

"The coaches were supportive of the camp's mission, and this was a chance for them to interact with campers away from a college campus. "

-Thats a lot of campness in one sentence.

Also, how does saying that you lost a few in a row "heat up" a rivalry? At least call MSU little brother or something.

Hey, now. Don't don't lumping UTx in with Arky, Aubie, Stanford and the Duckies. Along with 2005, 2008 was a great team.

Without Colt out with the fluke injury in '09 and all the stars align against Tech in '08, there is a chance they win 3 in 5 years.

And I will gripe about dumping UF in there, too. OT's failing memory appears to have forgotten our run of 2 MNC's in 3 years. Guessing all that whoofing of trash about our OOC gets in the way of reality.

;-)

I was just trying to say that ALL college football teams, have a hard time staying on top. :-) In 2005 the Longhorns beat USC and it was a great game, but it could have went USC's way. Coulda, shoulda, woulda!!! :-)

LOL, did you read my comment #7?? I said "teams like Florida win a title now and then, but they have a hard time staying "on top". IMO, it will happen to LSU and Bama, it will be very hard for any team to contend for the NC year in and year out. Just because the Gators won two titles in three years, would you say that the Gators are "on top" at the present time??

Yeah, but in hindsight, glad LHs beat USC that game. Saved us the added embarassment of having to vacate TWO championships. :-/

That's true. :-)

LOL, actually USC split a NC (AP poll) in 2003. That was the main reason that the "Flawed BCS" became so relevant.

Well, no one has ever won a real NC so USC is no different than any other 1-A team out there in that regard.

USC probably was the best team 3 or 4 out of the last 15 years though.
