08:33 AM ET 06.14 | So long, Jay McClement. Cross [McClement] off the list of Avalanche players that will come back with the team next season. McClement, who had a good season as the Avs' third-line center (most of the time that was his spot anyway), is headed for the open market on July 1, words with various parties have made clear. McClement, 29, scored 10 goals and seven assists with Colorado last season, with a minus-8. Those numbers obviously don't grab you, but he was a very good faceoff guy (51.3 percent) and penalty killer for a unit that improved from 30th to 12th. He will definitely get a decent offer from another team.

"So long, Jay McClement."

Is he coming to Detroit too?

June 14, 2012  10:16 AM ET

well -8 for the AVs doesn't really mean much

What the hell has happened to this franchise?

June 14, 2012  10:26 AM ET

well Dubinsky makes $4.6 mil a year so I guess we can't blame him too much

So basically, the Avs got only EJ for Stewart and Shattenkirk.... another fine Sherman deal..... thank goodness Denver has a new CHL team starting in October. That franchise couldn't possibly be run any worse than the Avalanche, and it will be cheaper to watch.

I think post #5 explains part of it.

Who's going to make an offer for a player cos he's a decent face-off guy?

Before someone jumps all over you on that one, he was there for a season and a half (his Cup conquest was completed in playoff year number two with the Avalanche).

I'm a Bruins fan but you were one of my favorite players to watch back in the day.

sorry, trying to engage in a bit of hyperbole. I know how long he was there after he deserted "his team" to satisfy some unecessary need to validate a fantastic career by having to win a Cup
