08:11 AM ET 06.15 | Austin Rivers proved Thursday to either be a good salesman or an honest young prospective employee. [The combo guard] made it abundantly clear that he considers Toronto among his top choices to call his name on draft night in just under two weeks. The key word there being "among." Rivers said between himself, his father and his agent, the trio has scheduled just five workouts. Toronto was No. 2. He will also visit Washington, Portland and Cleveland. He has already been to New Orleans. "I have kept up with teams that fit me and the Raptors are one of those places and that's why I'm here," Rivers said. ... Apparently the Raptors organization also has the blessing of his father. "This is one of the places he likes a lot too," Austin said.

Attention NBA Teams: "You do not want to draft this kid". He will struggle early, often, and always. Should take his game overseas.

and even MORE than that- look at the list of bottom dwellers (no offense fans of bottom dwellers) he thinks is the right fit for him....so basically all he cares about is him being on a bad enough team that will give him burn, rather than going to a decent team that he MIGHT be able to help actually compete for wins.SMH- BUYER BEWARE

I think it's fairly obvious he's looking to be a high volume scorer somewhere (hence his listing teams that don't have much offense currently), regardless of their winning situation

It actually sounds like he is taking a measured approach to this....I like how he has sized up the teams and knows what is in front of him. He knows he wont be a lottery pick so its smart to check out the teams at the end of the 1st round, looking for the best fit.

I mean...dont we ALL do that when looking for potential employers?? I know I have

Raptors only draft players with un-pronouncable last names bro!

Try Not To Be A Bust, Bro.

Well one thing is certain; given the list of potential suitors, Portland is the only team that will expect anything from him. The Trailblazers have the #6 pick, and Rivers probably won't go that high, but you can never say never with the Trailblazers. This is the same team that drafted Sebastian Telfair.

Portland also has the #11 pick in the draft. That is likely where Rivers is thinking Portland would take him. I think he would be a good pickup for Portland.

I'm not surprised that he is taking this kind of approach. His dad played in the NBA and is a coach so he knows how this draft thing works. I can understand him wanting to go somewhere that he can get on the court right away. Most guys want that.

Stuodamire, Carter, Bosh, McGrady, DeRozen, seem pronounceable to me.
I get your point though.

Rivers will go anywhere from 8-18 in the draft. Portland needs a center more than they need another shooting guard. Now I understand Crawford is probably gone but I think they are taking Zeller or Meyers Leonard whoever is left. Rivers will only be in the running for Portland if the centers are taken. Now for the Raptors who knows it looks like people think they will take Lillard to replace Calderon as he only has one more year left on his contract. They could use a quality SG who can shoot. So they might reach for Rivers hoping he can split time at PG and SG

Basically he has kept up with teams that doesn't have a quality SG and teams he can get playing time under. I can't fault him for this I would do the same thing. He wants to get drafted at the highest position to make the most money and he wants to play then he wants to win probably in that order. Very few if any kids will say I hope I slide down to the Bulls so I can get backup minutes making less money on a potential playoff team.
