08:31 AM ET 06.15 | The Leafs are reportedly expected to be near the front of the line if former Ducks first-rounder Justin Schultz becomes a free agent in a few of weeks. Schultz, a big defenceman with 44 points in 37 games, is leaving the University of Wisconsin a year early to play pro. But he's thus far not signed with the Ducks, who could lose him if a deal is not reached by June 24. After that, a number of teams are in the picture, his home province Vancouver Canucks, the needy Detroit Red Wings, the Rangers, Oilers and the Leafs. Toronto's connection is that Burke drafted him just prior to leaving the Ducks in 2008, 43rd overall, the round after another Wisconsin defenceman Jake Gardiner.

That caught my eye too. Again, remember the source.

It is kind of funny the "Toronto Sun" is calling any team not named the Leafs needy.

Go sign him Burkie. Bury Komisarek's salary. Trade Schenn and a future #1 and swap this year's picks to move up a few spots and select Forsberg or Yakupov. It's finally starting to look a little brighter.

And ... what can possibly be wrong with a team located in the center of the universe?

Wings! Even college FA's will be going there. It reminds me of the ol' college days before scholarship limits when you'd stockpile talent and not let the other guys have any. Detroit, the new Pitt Panthers!

Yes! Everyone knows the Red Wings are a dirty, dirty organization, top to bottom. Most of these guys on the team aren't even writing their own papers!!

Wow...consider the the streak from 1967 to remain intact.

CBA needs to change. You can't let draft picks become free agents. They either sign with the team that drafted them, or don't play.

"Would you like to hear some music?"
"Yess, I'd appreciate that"

True. I had an 'impulse buy' pizza the other day. Had to drop something for work next door to Little Caesar's, decided to buy a pizza for lunch. I felt more like I was supporting the Wings rather than getting a pizza.
