Sources: NFL's 'bounty' evidence very thin

08:51 AM ET 06.16 | Multiple sources have confirmed that the evidence against four suspended Saints players furnished Friday by the NFL lack any firm reference to "bounties" or deliberate attempts by New Orleans players to injure opponents. The NFL was complying with a CBA rule that it provide whatever evidence it plans to use in Monday's appeal hearing. Attorneys for the four players were still reviewing the documents late Friday afternoon and cautioned their perusal was thus incomplete. In addition, there does appear to be some clear violations of compensation under the terms of the NFL's collective bargaining agreement. But on the broader, more explosive charges that have been levelled against the Saints what the NFL made available Friday fails to make its case, sources said. "This is a house of cards," said one person familiar with the evidence. The NFL, in a three-year, on-again/off-again investigation, said it had compiled some 5,000 documents totaling more than 18,000 pages, and that its account was corroborated by, "multiple, independent sources." What the league turned over Friday, however, amounted to less than 200 pages.

Can you imagine if Vilma gets Goodel into a Louisiana courtroom on his lawsuit? "So Yankee how much money you got son"?

The New Orleans Times-Picayune has a dog in this fight. Not taking anything they say as reporting. I do know this,Sean Payton and Gregg Williams are not fighting back anymore or denying anything. Hmmm?
I also do not hear a gaggle of players on the Saints, present or former coming out in defense of Vilma.

Your probably right 50. but it's sooooo much fun ragging on Goodell. He has to be the most disliked commish in the history of the NFL.

There is that part. The owners have to love him though, that new CBA was a win for them.

Chicago Trib is carrying the same story
The lawyer for New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma said the evidence the NFL provided on Friday does not link the player to any "bounty" program.
Vilma's lawyer, Peter Ginsberg, told NFL.com that most of the evidence includes a PowerPoint slide show of former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams' directives and speeches to players. Ginsberg said there is other evidence, but none of it is linked to the four suspended players -- Vilma, Will Smith, Scott Fujita and Anthony Hargrove -- in any way.
