08:11 AM ET 06.18 | On Father's Day at at Michigan International Speedway, Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham had some thoughts about taking care of younger athletes. Cunningham chatted with reporters during the two-hour rain delay before the Quicken Loans 400 and seemed determined to give plenty of fatherly advice to a couple of Lions -- Nick Fairley and Mikel Leshoure, who have been in trouble with the law in the off-season. ... [Fairley's] legal issues have not been resolved. "The disappointment that I have is that I bogged myself down in so much paperwork that I didn't see that coming," Cunningham said of Fairley's troubles. "And I should have seen it. With my experience, I should have understood."

Sounds like old Gunther needs an administrative assistant to help him with his paperwork.

Something tells me Nick Fairley doesn't listen to anyone coach. He probably rfers to himself in the third person too.

Stuart wonders why you have to criticize people who refer to themselves in the third person. Stuart think it's a sign of good character.

Some of the players going to the NFL today come from broken families. With so many single mothers out there these kids have no role model. Good athletics float through high school with little teaching and if you are good enough the big name colleges come calling. Things are over look if you have the speed and toughness to play on Sunday. The only father figure some of them ever had were their coaches . Some have listen others have not and the ones that have not here comes trouble.

Its not an excuse...its a fact. It may seem easy to change ur life once u get some money & fame but it really just makes it much harder to do bc there is no incentive to change. I know thats hard for some ppl to understand bc its not something u can relate to. *shrugs* It is what it is..

Can't be critical of Detroit for drafting him, eventually someone would have taken a chance. Hope this serves as a "Wake Up" call that he learns from.

Now that Pacman has been selected to particpate in a panel disscussion at the NFL's Rookie symposium next week, we should not see any of this behavior in the future.........why not let Charles Manson set in and give advice on how to love thy neighbor..........what are these people thinking???????
