Deng on the block

08:20 AM ET 06.18 | A bit of franchise lore may set up as an intriguing backdrop this summer in the Second City. When John Paxson first took over as Bulls general manager in 2003, he mentioned an early piece of advice he received from a more experienced colleague: "Never trade an established player for a nonestablished player." Paxson has given way to Gar Forman, but surely that advice has been passed along in the Berto Center board room. So why would the Bulls even think about trying to trade Luol Deng for a high draft pick? That does appear to be one of the strategies under consideration right now, league sources confirmed. ... And yes, it does seem odd that Deng would go from leading the NBA in minutes per game to trade bait.

Some 'NBA Economist' believes the Bulls will have to trade Deng due to 'Luxery Tax' issues. The 'thought is that they'ed trade Deng for a high 2012 draft pick and would use that pick to draft Harrison Barnes.

He11.....if the main reason they Bulls have for trading Deng is money, and Barnes is being viewed as a suitable replacement.....then this 'trade' ain't gonna happen.....IMHO.

Dude has always been on the block... they gotta trade him... they can't trade Boozer with his no trade clause so how else they gonna get better...

Boozer doesn't have a no trade clause. It's just no one wants him

As much as I love deng it's time to move him. The need to basically sit this next season out and wait with rose's injury, time to get younger arond him. Gotta build threw the draft, if they trade for a good trade pick, and mak the most out of it, then they could have a flop of a season get another decent draft pick next year. Then they got the bobcats future draft pick. They could potentially add three more great draft picks in 3 to 4 years. Plus the addition of the PF they have playing in Spain. Their building by free agency hasn't worked out time to cut the money and go younger, I mean rose would still only be 26, and they would be able to have a dynasty instead of just a great regular season team.

Yeah he does... they had a trade in place earlier this season but he refused to waive his clause for it to go through..

What trade is that? Your on the Internet look it up. He doesn't.

Why would every story about Carlos boozer say the bulls can't find someone to take boozer because of his contract is to much money, should they all say because boozer has the final say. I could tel you this as well if he did have a no trade Claus they would amnesty him for sure, the only reason they havent is because their are some teams that would still think he is somewhat valuable. I bet they trade him before the draft, if for a 2 rounder if nothing else

I wasnt aware he had a no trade clause...Does the amnesty provision override that clause?

Deng was an Allstar now people are rushing him out, thats sad he held that team together with and without rose for a long as he could injury and all.

A team can amnesty any player they want.....but I believe that the use of 'Amnesty' is a one time deal.

So teams better choose their target......wisely.
