Stadium issue divides Colorado city

08:32 AM ET 06.18 | Colorado State AD Jack Graham has a grand plan that includes winning lots of football games on Saturdays in Fort Collins. No. 1 on his list: A new football stadium on campus to replace the aging [Hughes Stadium], which is south of the campus on the edge of the foothills. Deb James has a vision, too, one forged from an almost lifelong love affair with CSU, where she went to school, and of Fort Collins, the university's home, where she lives. "After I graduated, I knew there wasn't anywhere else I wanted to live," she said. James is the community outreach chair of a group called Save Our Stadium Hughes, which opposes a new stadium. ... The debate over the proposed $250 million, 42,000-seat stadium has become a defining moment in the eyes of many students, faculty, city residents and alumni.

Hell, ask the **** Toads for advice. (stadium....not for drug gate) From what I saw, they basically did both. Rebuilt on the same location one side at a time.

Actually it was Drug Gate that got them the money to expand the stadium....

Hughes Stadium has to be the biggest high school football stadium in Div 1.

IMHO is should depend greatly on where the money comes from and what does not get funded because the money is going into a staduim.

That's no way to start an arms race!

We sure did...only took 10 - 15 doners to anti up for it too...but it was a mere 164 mil. lol

Btw...Ladamion Tomlinson is retiring from the NFL today. I suspect Gary Patterson figured out a loophole to bring him back to play for the frogs since we'll be in a different conference once removed since he played before. Heisman for him, NC for us...works for me.

Don't ask, don't tell.

You're dreaming, FF. You know Saban would turn him before he set foot back on campus.

;-)

CSU has the arms of Tyrion Lannister given the budget they have. Unless there is some sort of giant CSU Pickens-like booster out there it makes no sense for CSU to overspend on a CFB team that will just lose money every year.

The Rams are in a small conference which means very little tv money. I have seen some of their games on tv and most are not sold out. So I agree with the group trying to save the stadium, they don;t need it and cannot afford it.

The Proposed On-Campus stadium will be from private donations. Not one cent will come from tuition money, fees, or tax payer money. Hughes Stadium is roughly 3.5 miles from campus and is falling apart. Not safe when rebar is exposed to the elements. So this would be like a gift to the University.

All private donations and naming rights. No money will come from Students tuition or fees. It will also not come from tax payers money. So it would be like a gift.

Good enough then. Hope y'all enjoy your games in a snazzy new stadium.
