08:37 AM ET 06.18 | Fans hoping their teams can rebuild through the draft may have to wait until next year. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And, by all accounts, this NHL draft could be ugly. ... Yes, a long summer (and fall), complete with labour strife, may lie ahead with the collective bargaining agreement set to expire Sept. 15, but it will be business as usual when teams gather next weekend in Pittsburgh. The fans who pack the stands for the first round Friday at the Consol Energy Center might want to temper their excitement because some of the guys sitting at those tables making the picks are less than thrilled. "It's (bleeping) terrible," said one Eastern Conference executive, speaking on the condition of anonymity. "This year's draft has to be the worst draft in 12 years."

My guess is the quote could be attributed to Garth Snow, as the #1 pick 12 yrs ago happened to be Rick DiPietro.

Could be the Irked one. He is just now realizing he should have traded away his first rounder for this year too.

It's long since past. They just can't get the drunken fools out of the ACC.

If there is a lockout, does that mean the Oilers get to pick 1st overall again?

June 18, 2012  10:04 AM ET

It wasn't Burke. He stands behind all the dumb things he says.

You'll have to ask Danny or Argos. I'm out on the left coast and every province has its own liquor laws but from what comes out of To***to I'm guessing never.

I think that is just some sour grapes from Ottawa because they aren't hosting the draft. We'll fix these guys up with some Primanti Brothers sandwiches and some Sam Adams beer and every player will look a superstar.
