Will the Jet make a wrong turn?

08:10 AM ET 06.19 | Over the weekend, Jason Terry said he wasn't going to re-sign with the Mavericks if the offer on the table was for a one-year deal. That's smart. At his age, having a few years security is important in a league that can forget about you quickly. But the rub comes in if the Mavericks offer a one-year deal -- after they have either signed Deron Williams as a free agent or lost out on him. And their tender to Terry is off the charts like $10 million or so. That would be way more than anybody else would offer. It's easy to envision another team offering Terry two or three years at the midlevel exception, but that's still not much more than what the Mavericks could put together for a one-year deal.
