08:22 AM ET 06.19 | In Max Staver, Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease has an important piece of the 2013 recruiting class. Staver committed to Pease and the Gators on Monday, becoming the first big prospect for the Gators' OC since being hired Jan. 10. ... He picked Florida over Alabama, Auburn and a host of others schools. Staver said both 'Bama and Auburn were at the top of his list at one point or another during the process and that Florida came in just recently. Staver is the 17th commitment to the Gators 2013 recruiting class. "I just really like the coaching staff," Staver said. "They're good guys, honest guys. They're not there to flatter you and I know a lot of kids can't swallow that type of personality, but that's the greatest thing for me."

I hadn't heard of him, but won't say that we would have or wouldn't have offered at some point.

What position does he play?

Verbal commitments aren't worth the paper they're written on....

Glad to see Pease sign a QB, and from what little I've read, the guy is no slouch - 4 star?

Now, if he can just get some production out of our 2 sophomores for this coming year...

Pat Dooley at the Gville Sun said he was a 4. Guessing his rating doesn't fly very far, huh.
