08:14 AM ET 06.20 | While reports swirl about the state of his health, Jared Sullinger will reportedly work out for the Cavaliers on Friday in Cleveland. Sullinger, a 6-foot-9, 268-pounder, has been medically red-flagged by NBA doctors who have expressed concern over the player's back, according to a story on ESPN.com. His agent refuted the story, saying Sullinger has tight hamstrings. The first-team All-American could drop in the June 28 NBA draft. He's no longer a lock to be drafted in the lottery. ... It's not totally out of the question for Sullinger to be on the board when the Cavs pick at No. 24. However, that's an unlikely scenario. Syracuse center Fab Melo is also reportedly working out for the Cavs this week, possibly on Friday.

There's no doubt that players, in their own financial interests, should leave school when the money is there. Could you imagine if Oden had stayed in school? The guy would have never seen a dime.
That said, I still think an education is important. Plus, most players need the college years to refine their game. It's only a few bright stars that can really make that transition with little/no college experience.

OSU just doesn't produce many good NBA players.... over last 20 years maybe 3-4, Jackson, Redd, Conley Jr. and that's about it.

Exactly..thats the same reason why tennis players, swimmers and gymnasts turn "pro" young..I know its apples v. oranges but still, the principle is the same. Use ur window while its still open.
Also, these coaches are not putting the players on track to earn a real degree. We all know why most of them are there, its not to become an industrial engineer after their knees give out

I don't like when things like that get blown out of proportion as it can ruin sommeone's life.

If I were a GM hearing that he has 'tight hamstrings' from his agent certainly wouldn't alleviate my concerns regarding his physical condition.

JS made a mistake by leaving Columbus. He should have returned for his jr. year and worked on his all around game. I don't think he's ready for the NBA yet.

Buyer beware. Even a healthy Sullinger is not ready for primetime. Given the money these guys make, I can fully understand his reasons for leaving school, but we may be looking at the 2nd coming of Greg Oden.
